Most common questions which are not covered in detail within the other sections will be answered here. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask via the Forum - this will be a growing list.
General


I hear this game is F2P !?
- Yes it is, however there is a kind of an "Item Mall" where you can buy "no gameplay critical items", like better mounts, fireworks, beautiful social clothing and more... ! But you can't buy any better weapons or armors in this shop (!!)!

What is this item mall?
- The item mall is an ingame store where you can buy some non critical items for real money!

What kind of items will be sold in this Item Mall
- Faster Mounts/flying Swords
- A specific items for stat reset
- Tickets to change character appearance
- Teleport- Crafting materials
- Mass Broadcast
- Customized Fireworks (with message text)
- Formal wear
- Most of the items in the item mall are consumables!

Is this game already released in english?

- No, at the moment, the Philippines version of PW will have soon their Closed Beta Test most probably this coming April. However it is still undetermined if PW-Ph Version will block International IPs. Most likely they will block it.

So when will we be able to play this game in english?
- Most likely as soon as the Malaysian International Servers are launched. Malaysia will host chinese servers as well as english servers. The english servers will be open to everyone! CBT for the english version is currently set for May 2007!

When will this game truly reach the western market (europe & american servers...)?
- At the moment there are no known distributors who will host Perfect World in those countries. However from various different chinese sources, they still want to release the game in europe/america etc. in 2007!

How about the controls?
- You can use the standard MMORPG controls like in WoW, EQ2 (Moving with ASDW, jumping with Space etc.) or you can also use a Point and Click system. Both options are fully implemented!

Character
What are the different classes and races?
- There are 3 different classes and races:
The Humans: They can either be Swordsman or MageThe Wings (they can fly!): They can be eighter Archer or ClericThe Werebeasts: They can be eighter Summoner or Metamorphs (metamorphs can change into other forms, e.g. for faster travel etc.)

What are the basic attributes and how do they interact?
- The basic attributes are: CON, STR, DEX and INT.
- Con = Increases health (HP)
- INT = Elemental and Magic damage/resistance (MP)
- STR = Physical strength (Melee Damage, Physical DEF)
- DEX = Dexterity/agility attribute value (Ranged Attack Damage, Dodge). Also you need to raise the attributes depending on the weapons and equipment you want to use. A good sword needs a minimum of e.g. 20 STR...

How does your character advance?
- Your character advances through quests and killing mobs. There are 105 level. Each level you get some attribute points to spend on your attributes. Also you will have access to new skills and old skill upgrades.

How about the skill system?
- Every class has their own set of skills. During your levels you get access to more and more skills. Specific skills require that you have previous skills learned. Also you can upgrade old skills to a more powerful version. However to get skill upgrades and new skills you need to spend Skill points. You aquire skill points through killing monsters as well as through quests.

What about XP?
- XP are experience points earned by the users- Whenever an XP bar is full the player levels up

What about Qi?

- Qi stat points are earned by killing monsters, the same way as the XP points
- Qi points is one of the requisite currency for purchasing skills
- Certain skills require only Qi points will others require a combination of Qi and currency
- Players gain Qi bonus every time they finish a quest

What about Yuan Chi?
- Yuan Chi is the bar below XP
- Players earn Yuan Chi by killing monsters
- Every time the bar for Yuan Chi is full, it earns 1 Yuan Chi Dyet

What about Yuan Chi Dyet?
- Yuan Chi Dyet can only accumulate to a maximum of 3
- Yuan Chi Dyet is used for casting/training and acquiring skills
- A lot of the elite skills require Yuan Chi Dyet

Is this game group dependant?
- No you can mostly solo. However there are some instanced dungeons where you can enter with a group of up to 6 players. There you will encounter different kind of boss mobs as well as higher rewards.

I saw you can carry another character? How does this work?
- Yes a male can carry a woman. All you have to do is going near a person and click on the "Carry" button. If the other player excepts it you begin to carry her. You can then freely walk like usual, while holding her in your arms. You can even fly, ride a mount etc. while carrying her! Also both players have the possibility to kiss each other.

How many character slots can you have?
- There will be 8 character slots available per account.

Is there a marriage system?
- Yes there is a complete marriage system integrated. Both will have online notice,have xxx's wife/husband title,and have about 2 special skills, more lovers cloths and driving pets!

Will there be player housing?
- Yes there will be personal player housing. You can create your own home in your own space. You will be able to create anything you want.

Factions
What factions are there?

- Heaven and Hell
When can you join a faction?
- You need to be at least level 89 to join a faction

Groups and Dungeons
How large can groups be?

- General groups can have a size of up to 6 players and Mass groups can be up to 80 players

What about instanced dungones?
- There will be instanced dungeons for each level bracket (19,29,39...) as well as 2 for the Heaven And Hell Faction. Its very similar to WoW's instancing system.

Will there be any special quests and bosses in those dungeons?
- There will be quests that can be accomplished individually or with a party. Within those instanced dungeonsyou will also encouter several boss mobs there.

Crafting
How do you gather ressources?
- This is very similar to WoW or Everquest 2, except that you need to buy an item (looks like a axe) in order to gather ressources from the floor. You will see stones, flowers etc. all around the world. If you double-click on them you begin to gather the ressource. After a short time you get the gathered resources into your backback.

What are the crafting schools?
- There are 4 crafting schools available: Blacksmith (Craft your weapons), Dressmaker (Craft the armors and the fashion clothes), Artificer (Craft the jewels, bows and ammo...), Apothecary (Craft the potions). Everyone can learn all 4 schools, there is no need to specialize in just 1!

How does the crafting work?
- There are 8 different types of materials: metal, coal, stone, wood, cloth, fur, rubber and grease. The first 4 types can only be gathered in the world. The last 4 types can only be gained from mobs. Every type has a different level(low,middle,high...). Gathering higher lvl materials need a higher lvl character etc. Another thing you need is Jade. You can buy or gain it from mobs. There are like 12+ lvl on Jade. You need the same lvl of jade to make the same lvl of armor/weapon/item.

Combat
Can you fight while mounted or in the air?
- Yes you can fight while mounted as well as in air, land and sea!

PvP
How is the PvP System?

- No PvP till level 30 (except duels)!
- Above level 30: You can attack everyone outside safe zones (Towns). If you should kill someone you get red. For each consecutive kill the time you stay red gets longer. Being red dimishes over time. If you are red you can get freely killed by everyone (without them getting red!) and you are able to drop items on death (not just from your backback!).
- There are also Guild vs Guild Wars. But those will be held in instances, kinda like "Battlegrounds" where you can compete with a max of 80 people on each side. This will also be the goal to the player build home cities etc.!Also there is the territorial wars / city pvp system. You can find more info on that in Waukeens Blog about the City PvP System

What about the death penalty?
- No penalties below level 10
- After level 10 you may loose a bit of XP and you may drop any item(s) at a possibility of about 1% (very rare!)!
- However if you are red you have a higher possibilty to drop items!

What items can be dropped?
- You may drop any kind of item(s). From your worn armor to the weapon, inventory items, jewlery, craftin items, consumeables or money...

What stats can you see on the enemy?
- You can't see their level, but you will see the HP. You can also view the most basic items he wears, but only after you click the specific button in the target window!

Guilds
How can you create a guild?

- You need to be level 20, not a member of another clan and must pay 100,000 to make a guild. You need 6/8 people in a party to create a guild. You create it by talking to a NPC. (Price might change depends on what version of PW your playing)

What are the benefits of guilds?
- Share Chat, Create a Guild Emblem, Guild VS Guild PvP, Territory control (City Battle System), create your own city etc.

Can you create the guild emblem yourselve?
- Yes it is made by a 16x16 jpeg or gif file.

Items
Do Items decay over time?

- Items do have a durability and must be repaired in the shops (they get damage during the fights!). However items cant get destroyed by not repairing them.

Do I have to buy all items or do they drop etc.?
- You will get items from drops as well as from quests or the shops. In the NPC shops you only get the basic version of the items (armor&weapons). As loot you may find items with special enhancements to different attributes. There are also many different items you can get from loots or quests which can enhance your character in a different way. Crafting of items is also possible!

Can you enchant items?
- Yes items can be enchanted with different crystals etc. They can also get different colored glows depending on the crystal used. Enchanting can also fail, but you will NOT loose your weapon, only the crystal you used (weapons can be upgrade to a +9 max - but this is very expensive)!

Are there any soulbound items?
-Yes there are, but only very rare quest items. Everything else from armor to weapons are not bound to a character!

Do there exist any kind of hp/mana regeneration pots and how do they work?
- There are 3 different types of pots:
Red = continuesly recovers HP over time (depending on size of pot)
Blue = Continuesly recovers MP over time (depends on size of pot)
Pink = Instanly recovers HP and MP but costs are very high (5 min cooldown,UNCONFIRMED)
Pots can also be crafted by yourselve.

Quests
Are there many quests?

- This game is all about the lore of the chinese Myth "Pangu". There are over 5000 quests implemented. From crafting quests, character advancment quests, to usual mob killing, finding items, time limited, instanced quests etc.! There are also plenty of quests which can enhance different things on your character... more pet slots, special items etc.!

Do quests have good rewards?
- Quests are the main way to advance your character, they often give plenty of xp and also many good items. Also some quests have additional advantages which may increase different kind of things on your character (pet slots, enhance inventory etc.). Quests also increase your skill points as well as may change your faction...

Technical
Does this game run under Windows Vista?- Yes it does but it is not officially supported and has some hiccups and performance issues! You also need to do a little modification in order to make it run on this OS.
